Hi

My name is little Barb … little about me … I live in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada and I am 46 years young. I am a single mother of three children 20 years impressive 15 and 11. I work as a nurse and love my job, but each hour of work takes me more than my children. How long have you been in the promotional gift industry?

I have been involved Freebie of Commerce since November 2007. I found this opportunity through the project payday. It seemed a great idea but confusing the principle first.

I see you've taken more than 40 times according to area merchants Showoff. So … what makes you so successful?

In November When I arrived everything was so confusing and I slowly jumped out and tried a little. For months there has been slow and not do much, but I saw the potential. In February, I decided to devote as much time as I could to it and make an honest effort to work. Each week, now even better and with the help of mentors trained several started working. Now I work an average of 30 hours per week, probably more. The last three months I made many a great month and continues to improve. I like the challenge of trade and gives me the opportunity to do so I have time.The main thing is that I could reduce my hours and spend more time with my family.

Although it was many hours of hard work, I am not very capable of doing this and keeping the main things I focused on better.The honesty and patience have been. Treat all vendors expect to be treated. Patience is the key here and be a nurse, I have plenty. Living in Canada and understand how difficult it is a challenge for us Canadians, I spent much time training and assistance citizens. I have built an excellent reputation in the trade sites and even have to be a moderator on two of them.

What would you say to a beginner who needs motivation?

If you are looking for something to do at home to make a good extra income, so it's a great adventure to try. It is not a diet rich get money, but chances are good choices here waiting. I want to emphasize discourage try it yourself. Find one or two good mentors to help with the startup process. I've seen too many new entrants to enter without a good mentor, do a few trades to get discouraged and quit. So find a mentor to help you. Remember to have patience is key. Nothing in life is perfect and is not commercial free. There are failures and you need patience and understanding to make against them. You 'll need when you choose to train people and make them work for you. You will also be organized. Knowing the deals they do, make track. Know your merchants, and working closely with them, work for you.

Our company had fine products and that was a plus of course. But we also had a marketing unit that knew the advantage of visiting a customer with a gift in hand. I worked for two companies. The first company did not understand this.
Fortunately for me the second company did know this. Without a gift in hand I had trouble seeing the people who made the sales decisions. My decision makers were the doctors and nurses who could recommend my products to their patients. I needed time with these people to let them know I had the best products for their patients.
So when I came with a desk calendar in hand for my customer I knew I would have a few minutes of their time. They all knew when I showed up it was gift time. I did of course mix my product message with my gift hand outs. I have to say the nurses loved me for my gifts not for my looks.
Each time I visited the hospital I had a bag of promotional gifts for the nursing staff. Coffee mugs, nice ink pens, lavalieres for their name badges. Everything had our company name and a promotional message written on them of course. I never left a hospital with any gifts. I gave out everything I took in. And I wanted to get rid of the gifts because the home office would be sending in more next week. If I did not give it out, it would build up in my garage.
I had to constantly give out the gifts. Which was all right. I would rather get too man gifts rather than not enough. The gifts separated me from my competition. I cannot tell what effect the gifts had on my sales.
However, if a nurse had the chance to talk to a patient about product, she would more likely recommend my company because she might be holding a nice pen I had given her.
No matter the type of business you are in realize that one overlooked promotional gift is food. You can never know how far a box of donuts can take you. They might be only office workers. But someday one of them might be the buyer of your company products. These office staffers are always getting promoted. And when he or she does, they will remember your kind donut gesture.
If you have the budget throw an office lunch once every quarter. Have a nice lunch catered in. Mix the meal with a short product DVD presentation. Do not make it about your presentation. But have something so the people remember who bought the lunch. If they have questions later about your products fine, address them. But keep it low key. At the end thank them for their attendance.
